Jaymie Heilman grew up downwind of oil refineries in Sherwood Park, Alberta and lived in Wisconsin, Ayacucho (Peru), and Nova Scotia before settling in Edmonton, Canada. She started her career as a historian, writing about change inside countries. Now she writes novels about change inside people's hearts. If she isn't reading or writing, she's probably playing in her garden or biking to the library. She lives near the North Saskatchewan River with her husband, son, and an astonishing number of books.
